Verrückt, when translated from German to English, means insane. It’s also the name of the new, Guinness-record breaking, bat-shit crazy water slide set to open this Sunday in my home state of Kansas. On a scale of 1 to insane, this thing is Shia LaBeouf.
Did I mention it’s name sake is the German word for ‘insane’? Not sure I can say that enough. According to an article in the Kansas City Star:
“To get to the top, riders will climb 264 steps. That’s about 17 stories. On the way to the bottom, the four-person raft is expected to reach speeds of 60 to 70 mph in a seriously vertical plummet. Then, after the big plunge, there is a five-story hump to fly over, so to speak.”
The slide stands at 168 feet, 7 inches, or slightly taller than Niagara Falls. Niagara Falls is a fucking waterfall, you guys.
Not to worry, the five-story hump features a protective net, just in case. So, there’s that.
